A Season of Grief: A Comforting Companion for Difficult Days
Published in Paperback by Ave Maria Press (August, 2002)
Author: Ann Dawson
Average review score:

Wonderfully comforting book!
I have not only read this book, but I have given to people who have lost a loved one unexpectedly. Each person has commented on what a blessing this book was to them. It's very easy reading and the short chapters are helpful when concentration is hard to come by in their time of loss.

A SEASON OF GRIEF
EXCELLENT BOOK. A MUST FOR THE PASSING OF A LOVE ONE

A compilation of quotes, reflections, prayers, & poems
A Season Of Grief: A Comforting Companion For Difficult Days by newspaper columnist Ann Dawson is a compilation of quotes, reflections, prayers, poems, and heartfelt sentiment compiled for the specific purpose of offering hope and comfort to those surviving difficult loss. A Season Of Grief is very highly recommended as being an unusually thoughtful collection, with each vignette or passage brief enough for quick browsing, and a volume that presents a variety of differing, yet sincere, perspectives on dealing with the loss of a loved one.

September Fury: The Day Terrorists Tried to Kill the American Dream
Published in Hardcover by 1stBooks Library (July, 2002)
Authors: Debby Richardson and Debby Richardson Aka Angelstar
Average review score:

This is an intense book and a must read book..
Parts of the first chapter of the book....

On September 11, 2001, the day started out unlike any other day. The sun was shining, the hustle and bustle of New York's people shopping, going to work, or already at work. The streets were full of automobiles in a hurry to get to their destinations of the day or to take care of their private business just like they normally had in previous days prior to this certain day.
It was 8:48 am when an interruption of the nation began when America felt unsafe in our own nation. An airplane, a Boeing 747 flight number 11 out of Boston heading to Los Angeles crashed into the north World Trade Center leaving a gaping hole within the building and thick black smoke bellowing out of the tower.
People were hanging out to the windows some even plummeted to their death by jumping from the burning building. Every one trying to scurry out of this building.

People in New York already in dismay stood there watching while the white soot and ash hit the streets. Just a few minutes later the south World Trade Center came crashing to the ground like some one took explosives and did a planned implosion to the buildings. White soot and ash hit the city with a terror as people went running in the streets trying to find cover from the rubble, papers, soot ash and all the debris from both towers collapsing to the ground.
What a horrible sight as I sat and watched the happenings on the television after just getting up.
The devastation this left not only on the families of the victims of the people in the airplanes but to the victims families who had loved ones in the World Trade Center Towers and to those of us whom were watching this terrorist attack on our country on the news.

They used our own commercial airplanes to do these horrible attacks on America as we sat and watched our world come crumbling down upon us.
I sat and watched this destruction that was on CNN news all day long. I could not take my eyes or ears off the television. My heart fell, my tears swelled in my eyes and an unsafe, uneasy feeling came over my body that was so uncontrollable, my thoughts were all so hard to grasp. I just sat there in dismay, not believing what I was seeing on television. Could this really be happening or am I still dreaming?

September Fury: My personal review of the book
Mrs. Richardson has written a very informative
and emotional book on the terrorists attack of 9/11/01.
I found myself very ingrossed in every page and couldn't put it down.
From cover to cover an excellent rendition of thoughts, emotions,
informative facts on the attack, the Taliban,a well laid out time line,
as well as facts on Osama bin Laden. A "Must Read" book!
I've notified all my friends and family about this wonderful book
and recommended that they read it as well.

A very Intense book
Through all of this tragedy that the Terrorist and Osama Bin Ladin has bestowed upon our nation this book has reflected the time line as to this incident. Along to what and why this has all happened to our nation. This Author's books, I would read a million times.
She has also placed a lot of her own feelings in her book when other Authors do not reflect on their emotions as to what they write. I would rather read this Author's work, than any of the books that I have read in the past or in the near future. I hope she comes out with a new book soon for I am anxious to read her new work if any. She really has captured the emotions of our nation with its sorrow and anger of when this all happened up until now. Its well written and well worth reading for there has been a lot of research put with in this book. I will be making this Author my most favorite Author from here on.
This is an intese book that is hard to put down.

The Siege of Leningrad 1941-44: 900 Days of Terror
Published in Hardcover by Motorbooks International (15 March, 2001)
Author: David M. Glantz
Average review score:

Great Introduction to the Seige
This book is unlike Glantz's books on Kursk, Kharkov, or Mars in that it is a slim, larger-sized hardback with a lot of photos and color maps. He also doesn't go into a large amount of detail. This scope makes it a lot easier to understand - while I understood battles that Erickson (in "The Road to Stalingrad") describes but I was confused about. Also, it's a good primer before jumping into "The 900 Days" by Salisbury.

Col.Glantz's another excellent book
Although the Leningrad encirclement and the battle around the city was one of the biggest tragedic drama in WW II. it has been a relatively neglected subject . Mr.Salisbury's book was the only one which sheded the light on this tragic human conflict in English speaking nations.Daivd Glantz's "900 days of terror "is the one which can be equalled to Mr. Salisbury's "the 900days"
Since I read "When titians clashed" , I 've become a fan of Col.Glantz's eastern front sagas . this one is somewhat less scholarly than his previous books (in particular ,the ones published from Frank Cass pub)however, It is suprisingly readable, informative and well-balanced.col Glantz also provides the OB of Soviet forces, exhaustive notes and valuable date on casualties.there are also many unpublished pictures and wonderful maps
I've heard that Col.Glantz's next book from Kansas university press would also be the one on the Battle of Leningrad. I hope it will be published soon.

excellent book
This book sheds light on a relatively unknown (for me, anyway) part of the war on the Eastern Front. As well as the indepth text (which one is always assured of when David Glantz is the writer), two other things place this book ahead of the rest. First, the maps (one can easily lose track of what is happening when it comes to Russian place names); second, the photographs, which are mostly new and not the same old tired images. There are also exhaustive chapter notes and appendices. For anyone wanting to know what really happened at Leningrad in World War II, this book is a must. Well done Mr Glantz

Author: Gary Joseph Grappo
Average review score:

It is EASY to implement it !!!!
This book challenged me to start my own business. It was written in simple language and it's not a theory book; so it was very easy to understand and to implement it. You don't have to be a college student to read this book. This book also gave a lot of great examples and great supporting materials. And Mr Grappo himself is willing to answer your questions too. Good job, Mr Grappo.

The most direct road map to entrepreneurial success.
Gary Grappo has provided a clear and direct road map to entrepreneurial success. Step by step instructions, guides, and techniques are detailed. As a direct result of his methodologies, the move from corporate America to entrepreneurial life has been an absolute delight. For every "would-be" entrepreneur, this book is an absolute must!

5 stars is not enough!
This is by far the best addition to Gary's entire line of books. Not only has he told you how to get a job in the past but now he tells you step by syep how to start your own job, be your own boss, and own your own business!

If you have read the other books and followed his instructions then you know that his latest addition is nothing to fear!

A Stranger in the Park : A Caution Crew Book (Caution Crew)
Published in Hardcover by Agreka Books (June, 1999)
Authors: Stuart Fitts and Donna Day Asay

Children of all ages will benefit
Having appreciated the teaching nature of "A Stranger in the Park", my wife and I purchased the book for friends and family with children a variety of ages. All of the feedback we've received has been very positive. The book has provided a forum for their families to discuss safety and the relevant rules. We highly recommend this book to any parent interested in engaging their children in a discussion about safety.

Very educational and creative
I wasn't looking for a book about stranger danger, but I am glad I found this. There is a great lesson to be learned here. The story is well told and well drawn. I was able to read this to my girls ages 4 and 9 and they both understood the message and lesson. I was particularly attracted to the fact that this story can be read to kids without creating fear or tension about regular activities around strangers. The author was right about the book not scaring parents or children. I think it is a worthy book and hope the next one is as good. T.H. Tulsa, OK.

As a crime prevention specialist, I highly recommend it.
This book is an excellent tool for educating children about personal safety. Younger children can easily follow along as the story is read to them, and the crime prevention message is very solid. The material is presented in a way that empowers the child, as opposed to frightening them, and it has a universal quality that tends to make it interesting and appealing to children from a variety of cultures. As a certified Crime Prevention Specialist and a member of the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners, I am very selective in the resources I recommend. However, I was so impressed with this book that I recommend it without reservation to parents, teachers, or crime prevention personnel working with young children.

The Seven Day Soldiers: A Novel
Published in Hardcover by NTC/Contemporary Publishing (June, 1976)
Author: Tony, Kenrick
Average review score:

A gunny classic
This is a top notch book, and a gripping thriller. The central dude, Barney Rivers hits on a scam to make a small amount of money. Enlisting help from his mates, it all seems to go very well- until the dude from whom the money was stolen comes looking for it, leaving him and his friends with seven days to prepare for the final confrontation.

Written in tight terse prose, and progressivly getting more exciting, the last few chapters are virtually unputdownable. The final fire fight is told in a gripping style, and is most enjoyable. You even get the odd flash of humour and snappy one liners.

If you like thrillers, or books about guns, this is the way to go.

Grade:A

A highly entertaining book
In one of those wonderful twists of fate, I found this book in a closet in my new apartment in 1983 (left behind by the previous tenants, I guess), read it, and loved it. There's comedy, action, interesting characters, and loads of suspense. The main characters in the story are suburban, white-collar types who are simply unsatisfied with their upper middle class existence and long to to make that one big financial score which would solve all their problems ("If I could just get $30,000 in one place, free and clear..."). They devise a scheme (or should I say, SCAM) which backfires badly and lands them in terrible physical danger. Their only hope for survival is to get some military type training to defend themselves, hence the name of the book. The suspense builds to an action-packed conclusion. Truly a page-turner and my favorite book of all time. (Not bad for a leftover from the previous tenants, huh?)

a must for all crime readers
i read this book back in the seventies and unfortunately lost it. To this day I have searched for and could not find it,if you see it buy it and guarantee yourself an action packed read.

Seven Days in December
Published in Paperback by Imago Press (22 November, 2002)
Authors: Jim Tomlinson, Robert Laszlo, Michael Barley, and Leila Joiner
Average review score:

Compellingly Creative Contemporary Craft
The novellas in Seven Days are sparkling examples of contemporary fiction. Their playful structures reflect a fresh approach to writing compelling stories of friendship, redemption, immortality and fulfillment. I was excited to discover this collection and its intriguing new voices. This could be the breakout book for these talented authors, whose histories show they are ready for fame.

A very unique read.
"Seven Days in December" is a collection of novellas that would be at home on any shelf. Each story is unique in it's subject, yet each story touches a place in the heart. You will definitely not walk away from the book feeling indifferent, as you will reflect on each story long after the reading, and will find yourself wanting to read them again. A very unique read.

Seven Times Four = Great Storytelling
Seven Times Four = Great Storytelling

Each of the four novellas swept me into the lives, loves and conflicts of real people with complex issues. In "Prologue," Davis, a staunch objector to the Vietnam conflict, reveals his dilemmas through letters to a woman he met at a youth leadership conference. Jim Tomlinson's skillful use of letters to demonstrate their enduring friendship despite differences in life style allowed me, as a reader, an intimate look into their lives.

In "Reparations," I was riveted by a range of David's usually suppressed emotions. Robert Laszlo, the author, deftly engaged me the in the struggles of a loyal son of aging holocaust survivors whose life is consumed assisting his father in fruitless attempts to reconcile past injustice.

Chuck of "Woman in the Wood" delighted and saddened me as he evolved from youth to old age. Michael Barley created a loving and lovable character and I found myself rooting for him and for
the success of his project.

Leila Joiner, author of the ethereal "Queen of the Fairy Feys" managed to quickly move me from bemusement to enchantment as she wove together the magical personalities encountered by Angela. The blend of fantasy and reality kept me guessing and fascinated to the end.

Seven Perfect Days in Colorado: A Guided Driving Tour
Published in Paperback by Pride Pubns Inc (June, 2002)
Authors: Bill Ginnodo and Celia Ginnodo
Average review score:

Seven Perfect Days in Colorado
In the Chicago Tribune Travel Section: "This book contains something that many a big-name travel guide does not: the authors' first-hand experiences, cover-to-cover, of the places being written about. In their folksy style, they describe a guided driving tour through the state, much as your favorite aunt and uncle would: retelling interesting bits of history, advising you where to take a break and sharing their personal favorites."

Seven Perfect Days in Colorado: A Guided Driving Tour
In Chicagoland's major suburban newspaper, the Daily Herald:
"Seven Perfect Days in Colorado," subtitled "A Guided Driving Tour," guides you on a seven-day, 950-mile trip that includes time in Denver, at Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park, a tour of the heart of the gold and silver country, crossing the Divide and visiting the National Mining Musrum, exploring a ghost town, hiking the Colorado Trail and driving across the Royal Gorge Suspension bridge, a stop at a Cripple Creek gold mine and time in and around Colorado Springs.
Half-week tours are also given.
This is a great book if you are visiting Colorado for the first time and wonder how you're going to see the best parts of a huge state in a reasonable time.
The authors take the traveler by the hand and tell you where to turn, what to expect to see as you drive, where to find camping areas and which museums are worth visiting.
The reader could take any one of the areas or days outlined and do it as a day trip. This slim volume will help with pretrip planning, then will fit in your glove compartment and come handy on the road.

A Colorado High
From the first breathtaking view of the Rocky Mountains to the sunset stroll through the Garden of the Gods, our seven perfect days in Colorado were perfectly delightful. Whether you prefer leisurely strolls in museums or exploring the mountainside, this book gives you plenty of options. As we traveled along the suggested route, it was obvious that the Ginnodos had carefuly studied every detail. Their guided tour without the timetable helped us avoid crowds, learn about Colorado history, enjoy nature, and choose our own pace. This book accompanied our every move, acting as a reference and guide. It made a significant difference in how much we experienced and how deeply we experienced it. Don't leave for Colorado without it!

The Seventh-Day Diet: How "the Healthiest People in America": Live Better, Longer, Slimmer--And How You Can Too
Published in Hardcover by Random House (April, 1991)
Authors: Chris Rucker, Jan Hoffman, and Becky Saletan

healthy eating
If you like healthful eating, this is a good book to have in your kitchen. It combines the spiritual well being with the physical well being.
God as our creator, gave us an abundance of certain types of foods to eat. The authors have provided great recipes. I have tried some of them with great results.

For anyone seeking a new eating lifestyle, buy this book!
Though this book is written in large part by a Seventh Day Adventist, there is nothing about this book that promotes anything but a healthier lifestyle. I bought this book when it first was published, and it was an answer to a longtime desire to find a book that addressed pure eating- whole grains, raw vegetables, fruit-sweeteners- not just low-fat or low-sugar eating. The chapters are not only informative, but the recipes are easy and so tasty. This book was a great introduction to the world of the health food store, with even a glossary in the back defining various foods foreign to the average supermarket shopper, and the names and addresses of common health food brands. I highly recommend this resource for those ready to take the plunge into new eating habits.

This is a plan I can stick with for ever.
In 4 months I have lost 75 lbs. I still have a hundred to go, but have no doubt that I will get there. The simple weight loss plan put it all together for me. I know that by the time another 8 or 9 months go by I will never be fat again.

Spot's Touch and Feel Day
Published in Hardcover by Putnam Pub Group Juv (October, 1997)
Author: Eric Hill

Spot's Touch and Feel Day
The reason I choose SPOT'S Touch and Feel Day is because it seems to be a very good baby book. My son is nine months and he would love this book. It has lots of textures in it so that little kids can touch it and feel what it is saying. The colors are nice and bright so that the children can see the pictures. The words in this book are short so that the kids can under stand what we are saying.

An eternal favorite...
After over two years, this is still one of my daughters favorite all time books. Our first copy was read to pieces (literally) She was a little over a year old when we first got it, and didn't understand the concept of interacting with the story...she just loved the pictures. However, then she got the hang of it...and was hooked. The muddy paw prints don't stay sticky very long, but otherwise this is a very durable book. The story is simple, with bold letters for introduction to reading and simple drawings which enhance interest and understanding. A great buy!

1st Graders LOVE the Spot books!
I am a first grader at Anna Merritt Elementary School in Lockport, NY. I have read all of the Spot lift-the-flap books. My favorite Spot book is Spot's Touch and Feel Day. I like feeling all the pictures. I liked feeling the grass and the steps the best. I hope Eric Hill writes 500 more lift-the-flap books!
